I received a forwarded email from a client in which my client’s boss had praised her for dealing with a difficult situation.
A situation that had not been dealt with by the previous incumbent and yet an issue that was having ripples across multiple groups in the business.
This posed an early leadership challenge as she tackled a new and expanded regional leadership role.
There are two choices here:
First, bench the issue and get to it as and when higher priority items have been fulfilled.
Second, eradicate the issue with swift and decisive action – and in the process send a strong message across the business.
What would an intrepid leader do?
Everyone has a “stock price” in their organisation – the perceived value as held by their peers and colleagues….and much like the stock price of a company on the exchange, that price can rise and fall.
If you want your “value” to go up (and I advise you do) taking bold, swift and decisive action in the face of challenge does wonders for your stock price.
…and after all, we all want to invest in rising stock!
