Clay pigeon shooting is a lot like sales. Maybe that’s why I enjoy it.
Success in sport (clay) shooting requires that you keep moving through the target and don’t over think it. Good advice for life.
Failure (missed shots) occurs when you aim too precisely and think about it too much.
Now, I am all for focussed activity and focussed outcomes but at some point, once the clarity of purpose has been set (target) it’s time to let go and flow.
In my business I know exactly where I am heading. I know what I do for clients and I know what I wont do.
Everything is channelled to achieve very specific outcomes; yet when I am with a prospect (sales situation), and this may shock you…
…I have no agenda. I am not fixated, I just go with the flow.
So here is the take away:
1 – Pin point the target/goal/outcome.
2 – Get equipped with the necessary weapons (skills).
3 – Steady your stance. Relax. Get in the zone and go with the flow.
4 – Keep moving through targets.
Does this mean you will close every sale? No of course not.
But like shooting, you will tend to hit more….
