I recently met a direct competitor at a networking function; and such was his class that he reinforced to me the power of this one word.
I coach sales professionals about the power of abundance and detachment; embrace these two concepts and your sales world changes.
Here is how:
My competitor, upon finding out what I do and how we compete, said the following; “ It’s a big pie, here are some tips about how to get a bigger piece of it…”
Abundance, not scarcity, drove that statement.
He then openly shared some perspective that might help my business. That’s class (and rare).
The reality is that there are enough opportunities to go around for everyone to prosper. If you lose one, there are other deals to close.
The problem is that when we operate from scarcity, we cling on to opportunities that may not be worth pursuing and because of this we a) miss the stronger sales opportunities and b) limit our sales effectiveness – we actually inhibit our ability to effectively sell.
That’s a problem! (in case you missed it); and this is happening in your business consistently…
Leaders: Your sales people are thinking from a scarcity mind set; and it is stifling your sales results.
Sales Professionals: You must be able to master the mindset of abundance and detachment – you probably don’t think it makes a difference, it does.
Success in sales is as much about technique and action as it is about mindset and attitude.
An abundance mentality is not a natural state for many of us, but abundance is a reality. Embrace it and your behaviours change. When your behaviours change so too do your results.
